This parish was bifurcated from vadaweekam parish on 11-5-1949.Rev.Fr.P.Sebastian was the first parish priest.now it is 59 years old far 14 parish priests have been here.

   It is Rev.Fr.G.Soosai parish priest of Vedaweekam purchased  the land here and built the pressbytery.

   The church was built in the time Rev.Fr.Issack in 1968.There was a primary school whose patron was St.Joseph.

   The Sisters of S.M.M.I. congregation started a dispensary here in 1953.the primary school was handed over to them.The high school now has 1800 children.They first made it middle school,then high school and now it is higher secondary school with 1700 students in the school.they run a hospital mainly for maternity cases.They have a new chapel.convent,hostel for girls,sewing training school etc.

    In the parish a matriculation was started in 1997 and now it is having upto 10th std.with 500 children.

   In the town we have about 115 families.All of them settled here from nerar by village for job and business.

    Some catholic families are  at utkottai,Marudur,Chinnavalayam,Anaikuam etc.The biggest sub-station soosaiyapparpatinam with 400 families was made a made a new parish in 2001.Hence this parish has  dwindled  down to 135 families.

    Helen Kellen school for the with impaired hearing was started in 1995 at X-board.Now there are about 100 children in the school.The sisters of Incarnation lookafter this school.

   The New presbytery was built in 1998.the old presbytery was demolished.3.50 acres of kelumalainathar temple was taken on 99 years for the play ground for thr matriculation school.Incource of time all the institutions in the center were named after Fatima.

  The grotto of Fatima was built 1986.House complex and shopes were built in course of time.Now the parish is considered to be self sufficient- though hte income not to that extent.

   The parish feast is celebrated annually on the last saturday of july to the first saturday of Augest.
