  The Histoty of  kokkudi parish tracd back 294 years.It has tremendous History of its place.In the begining,it was the substation of Vadugarpet parish.Which has been continued for long period of time.The patron of this parish shows that in its initial stage the Jesuits were working here.There were lots and more priests worked for the people in various levels.hence they are traditional catholics too.They specically strengthed the faith of these poor Christians and at the same time they lived an exemplary life.

  The Kokkudi parish is located 47km east of Trichy City on the way to chidhamparam.The beauties of nature surround the village.The lakes are on the east and west,and with beautiful greenaries of agricultural field on the north and the south.

  The parish of Kokkudi was erected in 1879.There were two groups,protestants were onr group and other was Catholics.who fought for the place and the church.The case was field in the court.In Trichy court the judgement was favoured to the pathithars.But the Catholics appealed to high court in Madras.There the court finally decided that the land and the church belonged to the catholics message.They graudually increased in number.At preesnt the catholic population is 3500.

  The people of this kokkudi parish celebrate many festivals like christmas,New Year,Easter,street patron feasts,abd feast of vanathu Anthoniyar athe field patron.St.Ignatius of Loyala is the patron of this parish.The church celebrates its festival on july 31st every year.

  The patron of this parish is St.Ignatius of Loyala.This is the hope that St.Francis Xaviers mission might have been reached here or one of his followers might have worked here.It is realy a mission station.Even St.Constantine besche worked near by villages in the vinceyard of lord.He could have come here to preach gospel and teach catechism.All these witness that they are traditional Christians.In 1970 the old church was demonlished and a new church was built with asbestos.The new church was completed and bleased by Most Rev.Paul Arulsamy on 29.07.1984.

At present Rev.Fr.S Selvarayar is the parish priest of kokkudi parish in the Diocese of kumbokonam.He is the parish priest and the correspondent of the school.Though he has completed 30 years of priestly life still he is active;a good friend to the parishioners and he wants to do something for the people and for the children.The Teachers are also more cooperative with the parish priest  in developing the students both mentally and physically for their better future.At last but not least,the parish priest Rev.Fr.S.Selvarayar brings peace and unity among the people and also encourages them specially the pious associations, parish council and also encourages them specially the pious associations,parish council and St.Vincent de Paul Society in order to bring lots and more development to the parishioners.
