parish of puvathakudi is very ancient. the parish was estaliashed in the year 1680 by madurai mission priest(Society of Jesus).It was under that Fr. Beschi was the parish priest in the year were taking care of the 1774 to 1796 the fathers were governing the Praish from 1796 to 1834. Again from 1835 to 1842 madurai mission was governing the parish. From the year 1842 it came under the furisdiction of pondichery Diocese, upto 1899 the year of erection of the Diocese of Kumbakonam.
 udur, Konalai, Irungalur and Samayapuram were
lifuneated from the parsish of puvatha kodi share are number of priest and religious both male and female wjo have hailed from this parish. The church has been constucted in 3 stages. And the last stage was complete in the year 1884 by one Fr. Richurd(MCP). It has been 2 major renovatons one in the year 1988 by Fr.T. Joesph and another one in the year 2007.
  Puvathakodi village comes under the Panchayat of Irungalur. The church complete is the laundary for the Irungaer panchayat. When  we come out of the compass, use step down in mahilambadi Panchayat.
 The mandai dispute is going on for a long time. Though the open space(ground) beloongs to mahilambadi Panchayat. It is being used by us for the purpose of pascha and for the ear procession. Even the big   is statimed in the above said  ground. At  present the dispute seems to the dermant.
 #rd the annual festival is celebrated on December every year. Paschal festival is also celebrated every year. it is a two-days celebration. It starts on the easter sunday. people of the locality irrespective of caste and creed gather  in the village for both the festivals. The people themselves arrange for the festival  funds by way of \\'Vari\\' and donation.
 Except a few families , the people at puvathakodi villages are economicallu will off. More then fifty percent of the villagers are teacjers. Some of them are serving in the foreign countries off and on tesion is going on between the caste people (Muthiryars) and Dalit people, especially during the ear procesion.
