Vadakkalur parish is one of the mission parish in the diocese of kunbakonam. Pattern saint is Theresa of Little Jesus. IN 1941  onwords the mission was started from kulumar priests came to preach the Word of God. Fr. Ignetious, Fr. Asirwatham and Fr. Ganapragasam , they took all the effort to Baptaize the people.

 In 1973 December 22nd vadakkulur raised as amission parish. Fr. Edward was the first parish priest. Till 1998 this parish was under diocese control. Fr. Henry pushbaraj, Fr. Davreedu, Fr. Maria Francis, Fr. Ganadikadoss and Fr. Sagayaraj were parish priests. From 1998 till 2005 salesian had taken the parish. The salesian priests were Fr. Jesudoss, Fr. Edward Xavier and Fr. Patric.

 Now the parish is  handed over to diocese. Most of the people are Dalit christian. There are thirteen  substations. Except  athiyur, vepper and vayalur all other substations have one or two families. In the main there are 16 families. Over all total strength of the families are 85 only. There are two primary schools under diocese control. One is at palayaarasamangalam,  the other one isn at pallakalingrayanullur. Fr. Ignetious and Fr. Asirwatham are still  in the heart of the people. They put their heart and soul for the betterment of the people. They are their role model.
