This parish as  varadarajanpet is an ancient and historial one started nearly 300 years back. The first mission was started by the portugese missionaries. Later on the Jesuit priests came to this parish and did the missionary work. John Britto and Veeramamunivar have visited and converted many people to christianity. The people are very stanch and devoted catholics.

 As a result this parish is the biggest one in the area and population wise in the diocese of kumbakonam. At present there are 64 priests have been ordained from this parish and there are more than 200  nuns working  all over india and in abroad.  The most Rev. Antony anandaryar, Arch bishop of pondichery= Cuddlaore is the son of this soil.

 Every year the parishoners enact the vasappo. That is the life history as saints, such  St. Antony as padua, St. Sebastin, Arockianather, John De Britto ,St. Agnes and Marugifal in the month  as May.
